Wiener Ringurm lights up: Polish art combines cultures!

Innere Stadt, Österreich - The Vienna Ringurm shone in new splendor on June 16, 2025. On the occasion of the ceremonial opening of the artistic coverage, which was designed by the Polish artist Marcin Maciejowski, numerous guests gathered from Polish culture and politics.
The new coverage with the title "connecting stories" has an area of over 4,000 square meters and represents the 17th artistic work that is realized on this iconic building. The ring tower, with its 73 meters high, was first opened in 1955 and celebrated its 70th anniversary on June 14, 2025.

The guests of honor included Dr. Jolanta Miśkowiec, director of the Polish Institute in Vienna, and Dr. Thomas Zehetner, the vice -chancellor's foreign policy consultant. At the opening, the ring tower was highlighted as a symbol of international friendship and cultural exchange. Zehetner emphasized that the ring tower is not only an architectural highlight of Vienna, but also a place that beats bridges between cultures.

art as a connection between worlds

Marcin Maciejowski sees his art a way to create the connection between the inner world and public space. His work is described as an oversized library that makes thoughts and stories visible. "Books are the windows to the world," explains the artist and thus gives an insight into his intentions. The architectural modernism in Krakow is currently being highlighted in an accompanying exhibition in the ring tower, which will still be seen until June 20. This exhibition is another step to make contemporary Polish art more visible in Vienna. District chief Markus Figl (ÖVP) praised the initiative, which should not only appeal to art enthusiasts, but also a broader public.

cultural exchange in focus

The artwork will be visible on the ring tower by the end of September. The materials are then converted into fashionable shoppers, which gives the installation an additional dimension and is at the same time sustainable. Mag. Robert Lashofer, CEO of the Vienna City Insurance Association, underlined the symbolic importance of covering for Austrian-Polish relationships. "Art can create connections, and this is exactly what we want to achieve with our project," says Lasshofer. With this impressive artistic installation, the ring tower again sets a sign of cultural exchange and celebration of the diversity in Vienna. It remains exciting what stories and creative inspiration this new coverage will produce in the coming months.
