Animal protection in everyday Austrian life

Austria has not only established itself as a state model in animal protection, but it also does not stand still within the legal framework. The country has some of the most comprehensive animal welfare laws in the world, regulating the appropriate care and housing of farm animals and pets. Animal rescue and rehabilitation centers work tirelessly to help injured or abandoned animals. This shows how important the welfare of animals is to Austrian citizens.

The Vienna animal protection police ensure that animal protection laws are enforced in the city. There are also numerous organizations such asSOS animals AustriaorFour Paws Austriawho are committed to the protection and welfare of animals. Pet-friendly tourism has also taken off, allowing travelers to find pet-friendly accommodations and activities.

Last but not least, the ban on fur farming since 2004 has been an essential part of Austrian animal protection, which shows how seriously the country takes this issue. There is also a spirit of innovation in the famous “Cat Café” in Vienna, one of the first of its kind in Europe, which promotes responsible pet ownership and at the same time offers the opportunity for adoption.
