Vienna drives better: New bus offers start from August 18th!
In Vienna, the summer construction sites are slowly coming to an end, and at the same time significant improvements in rail replacement transport are imminent. How courier reported, the replacement bus offer will be increased from Monday, August 18th to September 1st at 4 a.m. In doing so, ÖBB is reacting to the expected increase in passengers in the second half of August, which is due to the return of holidaymakers.
What exactly is changing in the transport offering? From Monday, the frequency of the yellow direct bus line between Praterstern and Floridsdorf will increase from five minutes to four minutes during rush hour. These new operating hours will be extended until 9 p.m., which is particularly beneficial for working people and commuters. The blue line, on the other hand, continues to run on the same route every 10 minutes.
Additional connections and transfer options
Another plus are the additional buses, which will also run between Wien Praterstern, Traisengasse and Wien Handelskai from August 18th. Here you can expect a frequency of approximately 5 minutes during peak hours, i.e. on weekdays from Monday to Friday between 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. This greatly improves accessibility for many travelers traveling around the city.
Particularly practical: travelers have the option of changing to the U6 at Wien Handelskai, which strengthens the district's connection to the subway network. In addition, valid ÖBB tickets are recognized on certain sections of the Wiener Linien, which offers passengers additional flexibility.
The cooperation between ÖBB and Wiener Linien, which provides the necessary buses, contributes to these improvements. This coordinated approach shows how important it is that different modes of transport work hand in hand to offer Viennese people a better travel experience.
Developments in public transport are important not only for commuters, but also for everyone who visits Vienna. This means that in the coming weeks it will be easier to discover the city and reach the numerous sights, while at the same time the construction sites of the summer period gradually subside.
Stay informed and on track! The Vienna public transport company is well prepared for the return of travelers and has taken appropriate measures to make city traffic as smooth as possible.
