Noise stress in Floridsdorf: Mozaik event center causes trouble for residents!
The Mozaik Event Center is currently causing quite a stir in Vienna-Floridsdorf. Residents complain about massive noise and uninvited disturbances that often hit the neighborhood starting at 8 p.m. District leader Georg Papai (SPÖ) takes citizens' concerns seriously and would like to clarify the situation. The event center, which is used primarily for weddings and can accommodate hundreds of guests, appeals primarily to younger visitors, but these celebrations come at a price for the neighbors.
According to reports, the noise becomes particularly loud in the evening, especially after 10 p.m. Windows have to be closed and many residents report that sleeping becomes almost impossible at midnight as loud shouting and honking can be heard on the street. One resident, Mr. K, explained that nothing had changed for months and it was time to take action. Last week there were also riots that further inflamed the situation. The FPÖ is therefore calling for the event center to be closed immediately, an opinion that is met with approval among neighbors. The independent voting group WIFF is also calling for a ban on events and the presence of control bodies during the celebrations.
Crisis meeting in September
In response to a call for help from residents, district leader Papai called a meeting with the association board, tenants and the police. The first round was positive, but residents are hoping for noticeable changes. There will be another consultation on September 26th, which will be considered an emergency meeting. The goal of this round: to develop solutions that make it possible to allow celebrations in Floridsdorf without being a burden to the neighbors.
Like the website eventfaq.de notes, events of municipal importance enjoy a certain level of protection. However, there are clear rules that must be followed, especially in residential areas. Events must not disturb the night's sleep after 10 p.m., which is often a challenge, especially when it comes to private parties. Noise levels are a priority for residents when it comes to frequent disturbances.
A new concept is needed
The organizer of the Mozaik Event Center is therefore obliged to develop a new concept that reduces the annoyance of the neighborhood and at the same time preserves the party culture in Floridsdorf. The residents are curious to see whether the next discussions will have a positive impact and whether there will actually be a change in thinking.
So it remains to be seen whether the jointly developed solutions will be effective and can make both sides – both the celebrants and the residents – happy in the long term. A sustainable approach to events could make Floridsdorf a more livable place for everyone again.
