The Vienna police have actively solved several knife attacks in recent days and identified a large number of suspects. Loud Vienna News In the course of investigations by the Schalek group of the State Criminal Police Office, nine young men between the ages of 16 and 24 were identified. Eight of them have already been arrested.
One of the most worrying incidents occurred on Rotenturmstrasse. Here, two groups of young men got into an argument that quickly escalated. Six suspects between the ages of 16 and 20 attacked a 20-year-old with knives and a stun gun, injuring him and robbing his fanny pack. Five of the attackers were arrested, but none of them confessed to the crime. On the orders of the Vienna public prosecutor's office, they were transferred to a correctional facility.

Another incident took place in a stairwell in Vienna-Favoriten, where a 16-year-old teenager had an argument with three men (17 to 21 years old). The teenager also pulled out a knife and injured his opponent. After he was identified, he turned himself in to the police a few days later, but did not confess and was also taken into custody.
There was a similar altercation in Wielandpark in which a 17-year-old attacked his 19-year-old companion, a 16-year-old, with a knife. According to the investigation, he received the knife from a 24-year-old friend who is currently in custody. The 17-year-old was arrested that night, but refused to testify and was transferred to a prison.
These incidents shed a disturbing light on youth violence in Vienna and highlight the challenges facing the police. As the investigation continues, questions remain as to how such acts of violence can be prevented in the future.
