Neustifter Kirtag 2024: More fun for families and new ATMs!

The Neustifter Kirtag, a festival with over 250 years of tradition, is just around the corner and promises to be a festival full of entertainment and social gatherings again this year. From August 21st to 24th, 2024 there will be a lot of celebrations in Neustift am Walde, Vienna/Döbling. This fair, which was originally created as a harvest festival, has now become a popular date in the calendar of the Viennese.

The Neustift am Walde wine growing association has come up with a lot of ideas for this year. Visitors can look forward to an expanded offering for children and families. Bouncy castles and ring games are designed to ensure that even the little ones get their money's worth. As in previous years, the Kirtag attracts around 100,000 guests, which requires close cooperation with the police, fire brigade, garbage disposal and the Wiener Linien to ensure that things run smoothly.

Strong community involvement

It's not just the organizers who play an important role: there is political support in the form of 25,000 euros, which was provided by the SPÖ and ÖVP parties. This year the FPÖ has also decided to support. To make it easier for guests to register, Raiffeisen Bank is providing two mobile ATMs at the event location. This makes the fair a little more relaxed.

One of the most interesting traditions of the Kirtag is the tusk crown and the Hiata tree, which were declared intangible UNESCO cultural heritage in 2020. This recognition shows how important the Kirtag is not only for the local community, but also for the culture and heritage of Vienna. The roots of the event go back to the 18th century, when winemakers asked for tax exemption - a request that was obviously heard.

Family-friendly innovations

This year, the tables at the Heurigen, which offer a popular spot among guests, are already fully booked. However, if you are still looking for space, you can look forward to the benches that will be set up along the streets. So the social exchange will not be neglected.

It remains to be seen how the new attractions will be received by guests. But one thing is certain: the Neustifter Kirtag is once again at its best this year and offers a great opportunity to celebrate in good company and experience local customs. For anyone who wants to get a good deal on culinary offerings, there are also numerous regional products to discover. Become part of this traditional festival that brings young and old together!
