Discover the new super grätzl: City walk in favorites!

Laxenburger Straße 4/1A, 1100 Wien, Österreich - A city walk with lots of green, fresh air and new knowledge will soon be on the program. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the GB* (area support urban renewal) invites you to a special tour of the new estate and the supergrätzl in favorites from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The meeting point is in front of the library Neue Wandgut, Laxenburger Straße 4/1a, 1100 Vienna.

The city planner Roland Krebs from the Superwien office will give an insight into the impressive development of the new country goods live on site. Interested parties have the opportunity to stroll through the first super grätzl in Vienna and to learn more about the positive changes in the neighborhood. This initiative not only aims to upgrade the quality of life, but also wants to increase traffic safety and make the environment more climate -friendly.

What is a super grätzl?

The city of Vienna launched the first super grätzl for models from Barcelona and Berlin for favorites. This concept creates rooms without draft traffic, but with lots of green and space for people. The new paths are designed in such a way that cars can only drive to the houses and garages as they are led on main roads at the intersections. This is not only pleasant to pedestrians and cyclists, but also ensures a significant noise reduction.

Along these new streets, a total of over 60 trees and 94 new green areas are created. Particularly noteworthy is the large pedestrian zone around the Mittelschule Herzgasse, which offers a safe environment for the school children, equipped with seating, community beds and even water features. These measures not only promote the quality of life, but also increase the identification of the residents with their Grätzl.

positive effects on daily life

The Supergrätzl aims to counter the challenges of climate change and the needs of a growing city population. The new open spaces create space for relaxation, social interactions and offer opportunities for leisure activities. Children and older people in particular benefit from the improved traffic safety and the green areas that ensure cooling and a pleasant living environment.

The construction work for the supergrätzl is in full swing, with a planned completion in autumn 2025. The first construction phase was successfully completed at the end of 2023, while the second phase will continue until autumn 2025. The positive feedback from the residents during the pilot phase 2022 has shown that the measures are met with broad consent.
