Brutal burglary in Vienna: Girls in the bathroom included!
A brutal burglary shaked Vienna on Wednesday. In a single-family house in the Mauer (Vienna-Liesing) district, two perpetrators penetrated knives armed at around 10:50 a.m. and apparently assumed that nobody was at home. Surprisingly, however, there was a girl in the house who hid in the bathroom, locked the door and called her father. This reacted immediately and made an emergency call. Thanks to the rapid action of the police, which was on site within a few minutes and immediately initiated a large -scale search, one of the suspects could be arrested. The use of helicopters and drones to search for other perpetrators shows how serious the situation was. The exact number of perpetrators is currently unclear what additional concern triggers.
Such an incident raises questions, especially in the context of the current burglary statistics. According to [home-insider.de] (https://home-insider.de/einbruchstatistik-deutschland-2024-aktuelle- figures/), an increase in burglary figures in Germany is recorded, which always raises concerns about security in our own four walls. In 2023, over 77,000 burglaries were registered nationwide, which means an increase of around 18 percent compared to the previous year. On average, a slump is done every 213 seconds in Germany.
burglaries in Vienna
in Vienna is not to be expected to do the same figures, but there is also an increasing trend here for burglaries. In connection with the current series of burglaries in Liesing, some young people who are suspected of having been involved in several burglaries were arrested. According to [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/liesing/c-lokales/jugendliche-nach-nach-nuchserie-in-wien-fest, the arrest of these people could contribute to improving security in the affected districts. It is emphasized that prevention measures are of great importance to make burglary more difficult.
Burglars often use preferred attack points such as balcony and terrace doors, which is why effective mechanical security measures are decisive. The more protection you offer, the less opportunistic perpetrators act. The police have already offered free security consultations to show the citizens: inside ways how they can protect themselves better.
The current situation makes it clear that it is important to be vigilant in Vienna. Despite the plans to improve security and the efforts of the police, as a company, we are asked to support each other and to pay attention to suspicious activities. This is the only way to get back the feeling of security in everyday life.
