A23: night locks until December! New wall for Altmannsdorf in sight

The A23 Southeast Tangent, as a high -busy road in Austria with an average of 180,000 vehicles per day, will be used for important renovation work in the coming months. The departure towards favorites, which is driven daily by around 164,100 vehicles, is particularly affected. From July 21, 2025, ASFINAG starts with comprehensive work on the renovation of a support wall in the direction of Altmannsdorf, such as reported.

However, the renovation work is not without restrictions for road users: the road is narrowed on a trail on the night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The descent from the Kaisermühlen node to the distribution group is completely blocked during this time. These night locks, which last until the planned end in December 2025, are necessary to ensure traffic safety and the smooth running of the construction work, according to NÖN .

Austria has a well -developed infrastructure. Nevertheless, the proportion of road construction, maintenance and operation is considerable, and about 10% of the municipal budgets flow into these areas annually. In the future, the focus will have to be more on multimodal traffic solutions that include, among other things, structures for cycle paths and better access to public transport. Vision Austria points out that the expansion of cycling fast paths is particularly important in order to motivate the population to switch from the car to the bike.

The renovation work on the A23 shows how important it is to maintain existing infrastructures sustainably and at the same time to ensure the increasing traffic. With a good knack on the part of the authorities, we can hope for a functioning traffic infrastructure that meets both the needs of the population and the ecological requirements.
