Schlumberger opens modern sparkling wine location: A win for Müllendorf!

The new Schlumberger location in Müllendorf, Burgenland was officially opened in a celebratory ceremony on October 28, 2025. “House of Sparkling” is the name of the ultra-modern sparkling wine center that combines production and bottling in one location. The company is thus taking a further step towards efficiency and sustainability, which State Councilor Daniela Winkler sees as a great success for the region. At the opening, cathedral priest Toni Faber blessed the new work, accompanied by prominent guests such as Wolfgang Rosam and Christa Kummer.

The decision for the new location was not made without reason. Covering an area of 12 hectares, the site measures as much as the company's ambitious vision: around 30 employees will be employed here to fill the first bottles of sparkling wine from mid-2025. The entire construction period was only two years, the groundbreaking ceremony began on June 16, 2023 and, after rapid implementation, the unofficial opening ceremony took place on September 4, 2025 Cheers Magazine reported.

Sustainability in focus

Sustainability was a key concern when building the new plant. The facility is equipped with a photovoltaic system that achieves an output of 500 kWp and thus covers part of the energy required. By combining processes, around 1,000 truck trips can be saved annually, which benefits the environment. Production director Patrick Meszarits highlights the efficiency, sustainability and quality of the new factory, while cellar master Aurore Jeudy emphasizes the technical potential of the site.

Investments in the project amounted to a mid-double-digit million amount. “We rely on the Austrian origin of the grape, bottle, label and packaging,” assures the company. This not only promotes regional added value, but also ensures that jobs are retained in the region.

Maintain existing locations

The existing locations in Vienna Heiligenstadt and Bad Vöslau will remain in operation, allowing Schlumberger to diversify its production while ensuring the high quality of its sparkling wine. With this move, Schlumberger is not only well positioned to meet the ongoing demand for Austrian sparkling wines, but also positioned to assert itself as one of the leading sparkling wine producers in Europe.

The opening of the new factory in Müllendorf is more than just another location - it is a project of the century that aims to revolutionize sparkling wine production in Austria Gault Millau reported. We can't wait to see which foamy delicacies from the “House of Sparkling” will come onto the market in the future.
