Vienna construction site chaos: where traffic will be hindered until 2027!

Vienna's streets are currently heavily occupied by construction sites, which has an impact on traffic flow. Lothringerstrasse between Schwarzenbergplatz and Canovagasse will remain closed until the end of 2027, which will result in diversions. The subway construction work on Alser Strasse and Universitätsstrasse is also keeping road users busy, with restrictions expected in the entire area between Felderstrasse and Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz, as well as on Rathausstrasse, Reichsratsstrasse and Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz, until the end of 2026.

Another point concerns the 2nd district, where Meiereistrasse is closed in sections. From autumn 2026, a general closure of private traffic is expected, with the exception of access to the sports facilities. Similar restrictions apply to Stadionallee, which will remain closed towards Handelskai until the end of 2025. There are also closed areas in the 3rd district, including Schlachthausgasse, which leads to diversions in the direction of Erdbergstrasse. This construction work is scheduled until November 2nd.

• 20. Bezirk: An der Brigittenauer Brücke sind Instandsetzungsarbeiten bis Mai 2026 angesetzt.
