Vienna celebrates diversity in metal with Loud & Proud – a festival for everyone!
Something is happening in the Viennese metal scene! Today it was announced that the newly formed festival “Loud & Proud” will premiere at FLUCC on November 21st and 22nd, 2025. This event has a clear focus on diversity and stands out from conventional metal events. Organized by the Heavy Lezzers collective, which has been active since 2017, the festival aims to provide a platform for bands that are often pushed into the background. “We want to create a space where everyone feels welcome,” explain the organizers. “Loud & Proud” is aimed specifically at people who have not been seen or heard in metal before and at everyone who is looking for new perspectives and sounds.
One of the main attractions of the festival will be the Norwegian black metal band “Witch Club Satan”. The band, founded in 2021 and consisting of Victoria F. S. Røising, Nikoline Spjelkavik and Johanna Holt Kleive, deals with feminist themes and describes themselves as “revived witches”. They combine influences from legendary black metal bands of the 90s like Mayhem and Darkthrone with a clear empowerment approach. Her psychedelic style and strong lyrical messages are well received by audiences. The Australian band “Divide and Dissolve”, founded by an African-American saxophonist and a Maori percussionist, will also perform at the start of the festival. These two acts are just part of the diverse line-up, which presents international bands as well as local talent.
A festival with added value
Almost two weeks after the festival was announced, the hype is already big. The event was already presented at Vienna Pride in June with a DIY spirit that celebrates authentic metal culture. In addition to the concerts, there will also be discussions and various activities that promote dialogue in metal. “We are not only planning music, but also panel discussions, drag performances and many other creative formats,” say the organizers.
In addition to the acts mentioned, the “Loud & Proud” line-up also includes bands such as Tower (USA), Scimitar (Denmark), Wrath (Norway) and many others. An exciting mix that will definitely provide a varied experience. “We offer a place for exchange and networking where creative minds and fans can come together,” emphasize the organizers.
A step in the right direction
By taking part in the festival it becomes clear how important it is to live diversity in metal. The plan to question stereotypical images of masculinity and replace them with diverse perspectives is well received by fans. The festival sees itself not just as a music event, but as a cultural invitation to a solidarity metal experience for everyone.
