Discover Vienna: A culinary and cultural adventure awaits!

A stay in Vienna can be a truly exciting experience, and this is evident in the experiences of a recent visitor who spent a week in the city with his wife. The two of them were staying in the 15th district and regularly made their way to the city center, which took about 45 minutes but turned out to be worth it because Vienna has so much to offer.

The culinary discovery tour was a real pleasure. The two tried many traditional Austrian foods, including classic sweets like punch donuts and foam rolls, as well as savory dishes like bosna and beuschel with napkin dumplings. The fried Alpine calamari and the tofu dishes from Karmelitermarkt were also popular, while a Korean corn dog provided a special surprise. An interesting discovery was the Uhudler, which was offered in the supermarket and had a very special taste.

Cultural discoveries in the spirit of the Viennese

A highlight of the stay was the visit to the Vienna Museum, which offered free entry and covered the diverse history of Vienna on three floors. Topics such as geology, National Socialism and feminism were presented here in an exciting way. The Jewish Museum on Dorotheergasse and the Medieval Branch on Judenplatz were also on the program, which gave the stay an additional cultural depth. Among the city's many museums and cultural institutions, the extensive parks and numerous churches are also a gem of this metropolis.

The city of Vienna itself is perceived as clean and not overcrowded - a real pleasure for strollers! Public transport is reliable and the weekly ticket, available for just under 20 euros, makes it easy to get around the streets. The city has also invested wisely in reclaiming parks, which now offer more space for greenery, and drinking water fountains and mist showers are ubiquitous in the cityscape.

Recommended locations for every taste

When looking for recommended restaurants, Rosebar Centrala stood out, known for a tasty dish with mashed corn, red pepper and sunflower seeds. Liwei’s Kitchen was also recommended, where the tofu dishes satisfy guests’ taste buds to the highest standards. These locations show that the food culture in Vienna is rich and diverse, and the food speaks for itself.

For anyone who wants to explore Vienna in a sustainable and affordable way, we recommend the advantages of the Vienna City Card. This card not only offers free travel on public transport, but also discounts at numerous museums and attractions for the duration of your stay (up to 7 days). There is also the ivie City Guide app, which offers useful background information about visiting the city and is available free of charge for iOS and Android.

In summary: Vienna has a lot to offer - from quaint restaurants to fascinating museums to a clean and well-thought-out infrastructure. An incentive to return soon!
