How popular are campsites in Austria? A recent study by 5min.at reveals the top campsites of 2025. When evaluating user behavior, the opinions of campers who have had their experiences in the last five years count. This survey not only determined the overall impression, but also focused on the topicality of the reviews.
The sensational success of the Campeggio Europa Silvella on Lake Garda continues, as it has occupied first place in the European rankings for three years without a break. Like the rating systems of camping.info show, the award refers exclusively to the opinions of travelers who have actually visited the place. No subjective decisions are made by a jury. Instead, popularity is calculated based on average overall impression, with the most recent impression counting more. A place must also have received at least 25 reviews to be included in the ranking.
The European pioneers
The best list for Europe, created by Promomobil, includes a total of around 23,000 campsites based on camper experiences. In 2025, 200 places will also be designated as “super places”. In order to obtain this title, extensive quality control by ADAC inspectors is necessary. At least ten reviews on five platforms and at least 50 on Google are required to be included in the ranking.
The list is constantly updated and shows how important it is that new places also have the chance to prove themselves in the competition. A call to rate the places visited on online portals never ends. In this way, everyone contributes to constantly increasing the quality in the camping sector.
