Major fire at Rochusmarkt: Fire brigade in constant operation!
On Whit Monday, June 9, 2025, a major fire in an attic apartment in Vienna-Landstrasse caused a stir. The professional fire brigade was called out around midday and was in full swing by early afternoon when the fire quickly spread to the roof structure of the affected building. The incident occurred near the well-known Rochuskirche on Rochusmarkt, exactly at the intersection of Sechskrügelgasse and Landstrasse.
The fire brigade was quickly on site to fight the flames. Landstraßer Hauptstrasse is currently closed over a large area, which also has an impact on traffic. Two bus lines are affected by the closures: Line 4A has to take a diversion, both in the direction of Karlsplatz and Wittelsbachstrasse. Line 74A is also prevented from continuing in both directions. While the extinguishing work is still in full swing, the exact cause of the fire remains unclear for the time being, which poses another mystery.
The challenges for the residents
The fire not only led to the evacuation of the building, but also presented residents with emotional and organizational challenges. During this difficult time, those affected will have a reliable partner at their side. Funeral Furtner, which has repeatedly stood out in recent years as a form of support in the event of death, could in the near future play a role for affected families when it comes to coping with loss. The service provider has made a name for itself by supporting relatives in emotional moments.
The importance of fire alarm systems and professional fire services is also highlighted by new findings from the World Fire Statistics Report № 29, which provides a comprehensive analysis of fire statistics for 2022. According to CTIF, the operations were recorded in 55 countries and show how essential a quick response by the fire department is. The data makes it clear that a thoughtful and well-equipped fire service can save lives and fight fires efficiently.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will report with new information as it becomes available. Let us hope that the cause of the fire will be clarified as quickly as possible and that everyone affected will remain safe and unharmed.
Further information about the extinguishing work and current developments can be found in the reports from The press and My district.
