Former high school graduates celebrate an unforgettable school time at the Gasthof Kappel

Last weekend, the former high school graduates born in 1958, 1960 and 1961 gathered at the Gasthof Kappel in Weißenthurm to celebrate their unforgettable school years. Numerous guests also took part in this special anniversary, all of whom had a common story: training at the Marianist teacher training college in Vienna-Währing. After the Second World War, this was the only institution that offered comparable training in the region, as no alternatives were available in Mattersburg. This reports MyDistrict.

The memories and anecdotes of the participants, including Fritz Pratschner, Josef “Pepperl” Thurner, Ewald Reiter, Franz Zinniel and Hans Zisper, were particularly formative for the meeting. Supported by an impressive PowerPoint presentation, the nostalgic atmosphere was further enhanced. Father Josef Süß from Vienna and Heinz Sandner from Kefermarkt were also present and ensured a warm exchange between old friends.

Cohesion and old relationships

The gathering not only offered the opportunity to renew old friendships, but also recalled the in-depth training that prepared many participants for their future teaching careers. This time at school, even though it was many years ago, had a lasting influence on the lives of the former students. The highlight of the meeting was the open atmosphere in which everyone present readily shared their stories and experiences. Burgenland ORF gives an insight into the emotional dimension of these meetings.

Former school colleagues who have kept in touch with each other over the years are often part of alumni associations that strive to exchange information and support current students. This also applies to the community of former students of the Eichendorffschule, which has been active since November 2018. A particular focus is on the annual career information day, where alumni share their professional experiences and provide valuable insights into various fields of study. This initiative helps to build bridges between generations and offer new perspectives for current students. Eichendorff School describes the alumni’s commitment in detail.

Overall, such meetings show that school time was not only a phase of learning, but also provided the basis for lasting friendships and networks that still exist many years later. The exchange of anecdotes and memories not only has a nostalgic appeal, but also strengthens the community spirit among former students. These events are a valuable part of the lives of many alumni and bring to life the feeling of connection.
