The QS rankings are widely recognized. The current edition has a total of 1,500 institutions from 106 higher education systems as the object of evaluation. Austria in comparison
How does Austria compare? There are eight ranked universities throughout the country, including the Vienna University of Technology in 190th place and the University of Innsbruck in 309th place. Germany, on the other hand, has an impressive 48 ranked universities - but the international competition for talent is considered the greatest challenge. 73% of universities located in Germany have experienced changes in recent years, especially with regard to further international challenges in the higher education sector. QS highlights that Switzerland plays a leading role in research with four universities in the top 100, while Austria is attractive for international students.
In view of these developments, the University of Vienna is well positioned, even if its ranking has fallen slightly. It is clear that there is still a lot of potential for future improvements and rankings. The challenges should not be underestimated, but with a good knack for focusing on international cooperation and promoting talent, the University of Vienna can certainly gain further ground.
