Ulrike Draesner receives the Christine Lavant Prize 2025 – celebration in Vienna!
On October 11, 2025 the time has come: the most prestigious award for writers, the Christine Lavant Prize, will be awarded at the festive setting of the RadioKulturhaus in Vienna. This time the honor goes to the outstanding writer Ulrike Draesner. She will be honored with prize money of 15,000 euros for her literary works, which combine stylistic independence and social sensitivity. It is the 10th time that the award has been presented by the International Christine Lavant Society and the anticipation for the event is already palpable.
Ulrike Draesner, born in Munich, has achieved a permanent place in the German literary scene during her literary career. She devotes herself to themes such as memory, physicality and escape, always from a female perspective. Her work includes poetry, prose and essays and is characterized by a deep examination of myths and history. Notable book publications include "Subsong. Poems" (2014), "Schwitters. Roman" (2018) and my work "Die Verwandelten. Roman" (2023), all of which are known for their expressiveness and depth.
