There is a very special association in Vienna that has been taking care of animal-loving people who find themselves in difficult financial situations since 2017. The non-profit association “Pfotenmarkt auf wheels” gives hope and food. Its goal is to help animal companions in need and to prevent their owners from having to give them up for financial reasons. The association is based in Floridsdorf and delivers animal feed directly to those affected's homes every two weeks.
What exactly does the “Paw Market on Wheels” do? Volunteer helpers travel every two weeks to support animal owners who, for example, are dependent on social assistance or have a minimum pensioner status. During delivery, the individual needs of the client are always asked and the food is put together accordingly. Enough food is delivered per household to last for around two months. Around 18 dedicated employees ensure that deliveries are carried out smoothly and with a smile.
Sustainable support for those in need
For many people, especially older, single and infirm people, access to pet food is a challenge. When using its services, the association charges a small fee, which depends on the weight of the animal. This ensures that support remains accessible to those who need it most. Before deliveries, which usually take place on Saturday mornings, clients are contacted by telephone and looked after. The members have a good instinct for responding to the individual needs of their customers.
The demand for this valuable help has increased in recent years. Many people are struggling with increased inflation and rising costs, which also affects the livelihood of their beloved four-legged friends. “Pfotenmarkt auf Wheels” would like to provide targeted support here. Fundraisers and Christmas market
In order to continue to be there for the needs of the animals, the association relies heavily on donations. These come together through private donations and through donation boxes in animal markets. The association also organizes events to raise donations. A highlight in the event calendar is the upcoming Christmas market, which will take place on November 22nd and 23rd at the Simmeringer Hundsgut. This market is not only intended to create a beautiful setting, but also to help raise urgently needed donations.
