Vienna Table Tennis Cup 2025: A sports festival for young and old!
The Vienna Table Tennis Cup 2025 started with a colorful program and brilliant weather on June 27, 2025 in Lugner City. The event, which opened at 11 a.m., attracted numerous visitors and offered a great setting for table tennis enthusiasts from Vienna. Among those present were district head Mr. Baurecht, the hosts Jaqueline and Leo Lugner as well as moderator Günther Herzog and chairman Michael Mader from Tischtennis Hobby Vienna. The aim of the event was not only to promote the sport of table tennis, but also to provide inclusive access for everyone interested. Participants found table tennis tables that were accessible to everyone, and members of Tischtennis Hobby Vienna were on hand to explain tips and techniques.
The tournaments started at 1 p.m. and the atmosphere was exuberant. This mood was further boosted by the summer temperatures and the professional moderation by Günther Herzog. With more than 32 participants, the response was great, and spontaneous participants were also warmly welcomed. In the knockout phase, which began in the quarterfinals, the intensity of the games increased noticeably.
The winners at a glance
An exciting final awaited the participants, which brought with it a few surprises. At the end of the day the following players were on the podium:
- 1. Platz: M. Riglthaler (der Erstplatzierte feierte seine persönliche Premiere, im Vorjahr war sein Bruder unter den besten Drei)
- 2. Platz: K. Becker
- 3. Platz: M. Ponjarac
The award ceremony crowned the event and allowed many participants to look back on the day with happiness. The positive feedback from the Tischtennis Hobby Vienna association shows that the event was a complete success and raises hopes that a district team from Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus will be formed for the Vienna Table Tennis District League.
Looking into the future
The event will go into another round on June 28, 2025, and everyone interested is invited to take part. Further information is available on the official website of Tischtennis Hobby Wien, which can be found at Tischtennis Hobby Wien.
