US comedy star Dave Chappelle: Live at the Gasometer Vienna! Tickets from June 26th!

Dave Chappelle, the US comedy star, has announced his presence and will appear at the Gasometer in Vienna on July 22nd. With over 30 years under his belt, Chappelle is considered one of the greatest comedians of our time. He became known in the late 90s and 2000s for his roles in Hollywood productions and the legendary “Chappelle’s Show”. This successful series was seen on Comedy Central and MTV from 2003 to 2005 and was one of the best comedy formats of its time. With his very own style, Chappelle has consistently made audiences laugh and is known for his sharp, often controversial comments.

As My District reports, tickets for the Vienna show will be available from June 26th at 10 a.m. There is great anticipation because some tickets were already sold out before the official start of sales and the waiting list places are in demand. Anyone interested should be quick, as a maximum of four tickets are allowed per person. The price range is from 64.50 to 132 euros, while platinum tickets can cost up to a whopping 249.44 euros.

Chappelle's career is full of twists and turns: after a much-publicized exit from his €50 million contract with Comedy Central in 2005, he moved to South Africa. He was dissatisfied with the creative direction of his show. It wasn't until twelve years later that he returned with a series of stand-up specials for Netflix, which again earned him widespread applause.

Current projects and successes

His most recent work includes the seventh stand-up special “The Dreamer,” released on Netflix on New Year's Eve 2023. This special once again demonstrates Chappelle's ability to illuminate current issues in a humorous way. In addition to his Netflix career, the comedian has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammys for Best Comedy Album and was awarded the Mark Twain Prize in 2019. As Shariq Tabatha reports, Chappelle is heading back on tour in 2024 and will perform in several cities across the United States. He also has exciting performances lined up with Chris Rock.

His work is characterized not only by his sharp humor, but also by the depth of his social commentary. Chappelle is not afraid to look beneath the surface and tackle controversial topics. He is often quoted calling Kevin Hart a “very powerful dreamer.”

A career with ups and downs

Chappelle began his career in comedy clubs as a teenager and has since made a name for himself. His film beginnings include his appearance in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and his breakthrough on HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” in 1992. He ultimately became famous with “Chappelle’s Show,” which is still considered one of the best comedy series today. Despite his successes, Chappelle faced setbacks and challenges, but they never stopped him from raising his voice and making audiences laugh.

Overall, one thing is clear: When Dave Chappelle comes to Vienna, you can look forward to an evening full of laughter and clever observations. If you have the chance to be there, you definitely shouldn't miss it!
