Fire Hollywood in Vienna: Dramatic operation at the police station!
On November 1, 2025, a spectacular fire brigade operation took place in Vienna's 15th district on Halloween night. The police were alerted at around 1:30 a.m. after residents discovered flames and smoke on the roof of an office building on Storchengasse. What's special about it is that there is a police station in this building, which enabled the fire to be discovered quickly.
The Vienna professional fire brigade responded with an extensive contingent: six vehicles and 27 emergency services were necessary to fight the fire. The firefighters used a turntable ladder and a specialized extinguishing line to fight the flames, which quickly spread across parts of the roof structure. The operation lasted around three hours in total. After the fire department extinguished the fire, checks were carried out throughout the building for safety reasons as there was thick smoke in several office rooms.
Renovation work and significant property damage
The office building is currently under renovation, which brought additional challenges for the emergency services. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the damage to property is estimated to be significant. The exact cause of the roof fire remains unclear at this time and investigations are ongoing.
Various fire incidents in Vienna
The special rescue team took care of two other people on site, while the fire investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office began the investigation. Information about the cause of the fire is not yet available.
