Rapid violence in Traismauer: Woman stabs her partner!
On the night of June 25, 2025, an outrageous incident occurred in Vienna that caused a stir. A 34-year-old Lithuanian woman was arrested by the Leyserstraße police station at around 9:15 p.m. after she stabbed her 45-year-old partner in the upper body with a knife during an argument. According to heute.at, residents of the house heard loud screams and immediately called the police emergency number. The seriously injured person immediately received medical help from the Vienna professional rescue service and was taken to a hospital.
The police quickly determined that the woman was heavily intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content of around 2‰. She is now in a prison while the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, West branch, has taken over the further investigation.
Another knife attack incident
However, this is not the only knife attack that recently made headlines in Austria. In Traismauer, St. Pölten-Land district, a 29-year-old man is said to have attacked his 19-year-old partner with a knife on Wednesday night. According to kurier.at, he rammed the knife into her back during an argument. Although seriously injured, the victim was able to escape to neighbors and made an emergency call.
The suspect, who was apparently also heavily intoxicated, called the emergency number himself and allowed himself to be arrested by the police without resistance. He confessed to the crime during questioning and was taken to the St. Pölten prison on the orders of the public prosecutor. The investigations are carried out by the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office.
Social impact of violent crime
Such acts of violence cast a shadow on the security of everyday life. According to reports from Eurostat, violent crimes in Austria in particular are always the focus of public discussions. Society is required to ensure greater safety and prevention in order to prevent such incidents in the future.
The two most recent knife attacks illustrate the urgency of developing both social and individual prevention strategies. The police and judiciary are faced with the challenge of not only punishing such incidents, but also getting to the bottom of the causes.
The events of the last few days clearly show that there is still a lot to be done in Vienna and beyond to ensure the safety of citizens and raise awareness of violent conflicts.
