New planetarium in the Prater: fascination with the cosmos for the whole family

The planetarium in Wurstelprater has repositioned itself with a breath of fresh air and now impresses with state-of-the-art technology and a diverse program. Visitors can look forward to exciting trips into space – without a rocket! As Heute reports, the planetarium of the Vienna Adult Education Center wants to make astronomy tangible. With the new Uniview software, guests fly live through the cosmos.

The innovations are not only reflected in the technology: the ambience has been improved and the seating is now more comfortable. This creates the conditions for both families and inquisitive adults to spend an unforgettable evening in the planetarium. “Astronomical events and their effects” are clearly presented here, and the exploration of black holes is also on the program. The planetarium is not only an attraction in the Prater, but also a place for learning.

Diverse program for all age groups

A special highlight is the new children's show “Mission Space 3: The Milky Way”, which was specially designed for younger visitors. The Zeiss Planetarium is considered the largest in Austria and one of the most modern in the world. It offers a total of eight multimedia shows that are tailored to different age groups, enabling an educational excursion into the world of stars.

But what makes planetariums so special? They use immersive learning to convey knowledge about astronomy and nature. While observatories often only allow direct observation, planetariums like the one in the Prater show the universe from numerous perspectives and promote interactive experiences. Innovative projection systems impressively display natural phenomena that can be experienced in an exciting way by school classes, families and interested parties of all ages, according to UNESCO.

With this new offer, Vienna has once again proven that the city is a real center for science and education. A visit to the planetarium is worthwhile not only for the mouse tamer, but also for anyone who wants to understand the twinkling of the stars a little better!
