On August 11, 2025, the upcoming Hollywood production “The Rage” will cause great excitement in the Bavaria region. Director Paul Greengrass, known for engaging works such as “Captain Phillips” and the “Bourne” series, is currently looking for an incredible 5,000 extras from Middle Franconia and Upper Bavaria. This impressive figure shows that the film project is very popular and that it is an impressive production.
“The Rage” will be shot entirely in Bavaria, with principal photography scheduled from September to November. The plot mentions a peasant revolt in the 14th century, possibly inspired by the historical figure Wat Tyler. Andrew Garfield and Thomasin McKenzie star and add a strong face to the drama. Matthew McConaughey was originally part of the project but has withdrawn.

Among other places, filming takes place in Penzing near Munich, Nuremberg, Lichtenau Castle in the Ansbach district and Bad Windsheim. The interior scenes will be recorded in the studios in Penzing. Paul Greengrass: A Master's Story
Paul Greengrass, the British director, is often celebrated for his influence on modern action cinema. With a career that began in journalism and has spanned compelling films like Bloody Sunday and Flight 93, he has developed a distinctive style. Greengrass' signature style, characterized by shaky, handheld camerawork, allowed him to draw the audience into the action. His last directorial effort was 2020's News of the World, where he received positive reviews but not the usual recognition. However, his new work, The Rage, appears to be a return to his filmmaking prowess after he also created a buzz for The Lost Bus, starring Matthew McConaughey and Jamie Lee Curtis.
“The Rage” has already turned heads at the Cannes market and looks set to quickly make a name for itself in the film industry. This production promises not only exciting film art, but also exciting perspectives for the Bavaria region, which is becoming a center for international film productions.
