Up to 5,000 extras from Middle Franconia and Upper Bavaria are currently being sought for the eagerly awaited Hollywood production “The Rage”. merkur.de announces this promisingly. Directed by Paul Greengrass, known for epic works such as Captain Phillips and the Jason Bourne series, the film is a historical drama set in plague-stricken England in the 14th century.
The focus of the story is on a simple farmer who rises up against the powerful King Richard II and thereby becomes a legend of the resistance. The film stars Andrew Garfield and Thomasin McKenzie, while Matthew McConaughey was originally in talks but has since pulled out. Filming is planned from September to November 2025, exclusively in Bavaria. The fixed filming locations include Penzing near Munich, Nuremberg, the Lichtenau Fortress in the Ansbach district and Bad Windsheim.
