Mobile advice in Vienna: FSW brings help directly to the people!

From September 2025, Vienna will again be the venue for the mobile consultations of the Vienna Social Fund (FSW). The “In the Middle of Vienna” program makes it possible to directly address people in different parts of the city. The innovative advice takes place in highly frequented locations, including hospitals, shopping centers and even outdoor swimming pools. The goal is to reach people before they potentially get into distress.

An impressive 9,600 consultations have been conducted since the program launched three years ago. Councilor for Social Affairs Peter Hacker emphasizes the importance of this approach: “The advice comes to the people instead of them having to come to us”. In autumn 2025, the mobile advice service will be active in a total of 16 districts to offer support and information in the areas of care, support and help for the homeless - a real ray of hope for many Viennese.

Planned dates in September

Some dates are already planned for September:

• 1. bis 5. September: AKH
• 8. bis 12. September: Barmherzige Schwestern Krankenhaus, Stumpergasse 13 (6. Bezirk)
• 15. bis 19. September: ÖGK-Zentrum, Wienerbergstraße 13 (10. Bezirk)
• 22. bis 26. September: Stadion Center, Olympiaplatz 2 (2. Bezirk)
• 29. September bis 3. Oktober: Eurospar Herzpassage, Inzersdorfer Straße 50-56 (10. Bezirk)

These mobile consultations also offer low-threshold support, which is particularly essential in crisis situations. The program is accessible without an appointment and provides extensive information on social benefits.

Additional offers for homeless people

Another important part of the support is mobile homeless assistance. This is aimed at people who were formerly cared for by the Vienna Homeless Aid. Free advice is offered here to support people in crises that could potentially lead to the loss of their home. The consulting services include:

• Kostenlose Beratung
• Hilfe bei Miet- und/oder Energiezahlungsproblemen
• Unterstützung bei finanziellen Ansprüchen
• Hilfe beim Kontakt mit Vermieter:innen, Ämtern und Behörden

The service offered by this advice center is quick and uncomplicated. If there is a longer-term need, you can apply for (re-)starting care through the FSW Homeless Assistance Advisory Center. Here, special attention is paid to preventing evictions in order to sustainably support people in their homes.
