Children shape their district: Get involved!” campaign starts soon!

The “Get involved!” initiative gives children and young people in Vienna's 7th district the opportunity to actively participate in shaping their living space. Under the motto “Have a say. Help shape. Have a say.” Young residents have the chance to contribute their creative ideas for improving and redesigning public spaces. This project, supported by the Cult association, aims to initiate new leisure projects and transform the wishes of the young generation into concrete plans. My district reports that The campaign also takes place in collaboration with Cult.kids park support.

In order to promote exchange and idea generation, several dates are planned in July and August. On Wednesday, July 23rd, a discussion and planning meeting will take place in the Cult.Café on Neustiftgasse, which will last from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, July 29th, the Cult.mobil will drive through various parks in the district, including Josef-Strauß-Park, Karl-Farkas-Park, Urban-Loritz-Park, Andreas Park, Weghuber Park and the Museumsquartier. The highlight of the activities is the Cult.Kids campaign on August 13th in Karl Farkas Park, where toy ideas such as more shade, new play equipment or even free ice cream are welcome from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Registration is not necessary – everyone is warmly invited! The district journal highlights that The initiative aims to promote creative ideas and active participation by young citizens.

Child-friendly open spaces and their importance

Why are initiatives like “Get involved!” important? Open spaces suitable for children and young people are crucial for healthy development and the quality of life of all generations. Studies show that well-thought-out open space planning not only increases the well-being of young people, but also improves the quality of life in cities. According to research results Children and young people should be systematically included in open space planning, as their interests and needs are often not sufficiently taken into account.

The design of playgrounds, parks and other open spaces plays a crucial role in the everyday lives of young people. These places not only offer space for movement and play, but also opportunities for social interaction and creative development. At a time when more and more space for construction projects is being lost, it is even more important that the voices of the next generation are heard and actively incorporated into the planning processes.

Through projects like “Mix in!” It becomes clear that young people do not just want to be passive users of their environment, but also want to actively participate in shaping it. This drive for participation is not only beneficial for the community, but also for the future development of the city. Together we can ensure that the needs of children and young people are not only heard, but also implemented.
