Goal festival in Penzing: SV clearly beats Mariahilf 4:2!

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, there was a thrilling duel in the 1st Class A in the Penzinger football stadium. Penzinger SV showed its best side and defeated FC Mariahilf 4-2. While the hosts dominated the game for long stretches, the guests remained without a point in the current season after this defeat.

The first half was a real one-way street for the Penzingers. Mario Yovanoski made it 1-0 in the 25th minute. Florent Berbati made it 2-0 just ten minutes later. Alitalib Erdogan even made it 3-0 for Penzinger in the 43rd minute, before Mustafa Yesildag was able to reduce it to 3-1 for FC Mariahilf in stoppage time in the first half. But Penzinger SV was undeterred and immediately made it 4-1 at the start of the second half with a goal from Yunus Avci in the 47th minute. In the final phase, Bruno Hötsch finally scored a goal to make it 4-2, but the comeback came too late.

The exciting second half

The second half of the game was less dominant than the first, but the tension remained until the last minute. While Penzinger continued to create chances, FC Mariahilf was only rarely able to cause danger. A yellow-red card for Drazen Bratanovic shortly before the end (90th minute) made the game even more explosive. The game was refereed by an experienced trio who had the proceedings confidently under control.

Penzinger SV coach Helmut Cesnek was overwhelmed by his team's performance after the game. However, he emphasized that they were careless in the final third and must avoid such mistakes in the future. Penzinger SV has now laid the foundation for a successful season, while FC Mariahilf, despite intensive efforts, still has to wait for their first points.

Football in the heart of Vienna

Football is more than just a sport in Austria. With around 248,000 registered members in the ÖFB, it is the most popular club sport in the country. The Penzing fans have accompanied a total of 50 spectators to the game so far this season, which shows that the passion for football is unbroken even in the 1st Class A. Penzinger SV and FC Mariahilf now have to prove themselves in the next game and try to collect points in order to move away from the lower places in the table.

The fans can already look forward to the next matchday when it comes to whether the teams' performances will improve sustainably or whether FC Mariahilf will have to continue to wait for their first points of the season.
