New parent-child meeting mini in Margareten: A celebration for families!

A new chapter for families opened in Vienna-Margareten on October 13, 2025: the parent-child meeting “mini” at Schönbrunner Straße 76. The opening was accompanied by a colorful festival that offered children’s entertainment, a hands-on circus and a concert. High-ranking guests such as Vice Mayor Kathrin Gaál, Deputy District Head Christoph Lipinski and District Head Michael Luxenberger praised the new meeting point, which acts as a social hub for families and is intended to promote exchange among each other. My district reports that the newly designed meeting point offers more capacity and is accessible to all families free of charge.

The Friederike-Mayröcker-Hof, where the meeting is located, not only offers numerous community apartments, but also a suitable setting for activities. More than 12,000 families and 8,000 children under 18 live in the Margareten district. The “mini” promotes appreciative cooperation and invites you to spend time together. Wien.gv.at highlights that the meeting point is multilingual and inclusive so that no one is excluded - no matter what country you come from or what your family situation is.

Diverse offers for families

The multi-professional team at “mini” speaks a variety of languages, including German, English, BKS, Russian, Arabic and Turkish. This diversity makes it possible for parents and children from different cultures to create a space for togetherness. Regular offers are already being planned: play and creative afternoons, advice and leisure activities are intended to support the young families.

The first parent-child meeting in Margareten is aimed specifically at children up to 2 years old and their parents. This platform promotes exchange between young families and offers important support in the first years of children's lives. Valuable experience can be gained together and a new network can be built - contact with other parents is particularly important in this sensitive phase.

Mutual support and networking

The meeting is not only a place for games and fun, but also a space for exchanging ideas about everyday challenges. Professional supervisors, including social workers and art teachers, accompany the meetings and ensure that the process of getting together is not disrupted by ambiguities. There are clear instructions for all participants to take part in the events healthily and without fear. The responsibility for the children always lies with the accompanying persons.

It is undisputed that such meeting places are of immense importance today. The open structure, which includes numerous activities such as parent-child meetings, fathers' meetings and open breastfeeding groups, shows how important these offers are for a functioning neighborhood. Future events, such as upcycling workshops or creative afternoons, will be announced and invite you to take part.

The new parent-child meeting “mini” creates an appealing and supportive place for all families in the district, where joys and sorrows can be shared and which offers space for encounters. The start was promising - it remains exciting to see what the future holds for this valuable initiative.
