Solar power for the future: New power plants at the Vienna wholesale market!
The Veletržnica Beč, also known as the Vienna wholesale market, has attracted attention with a new system for the use of renewable energy. A photonotovoltaic system with an output of 190 kW has recently been operated on the roof of the market. There are a total of 440 solar modules that were cleverly installed on eight roofs of the market. This environmentally friendly initiative was launched by Wien Energie in collaboration with WSE Wiener Lageentwicklung, which is part of Wien Holding. By feeding the generated solar energy into the Vienna power grid, a further step is taken towards sustainability and environmentally friendly energy supply. As ekovjesnik.hr reports, around 3000 kWh of clean energy is produced annually, which is enough for around 1500 average households in Vienna.
Veletržnica Beč has established itself as a central logistical hub for fruit, vegetables and flowers for over 50 years and thus plays an important role in supplying Vienna. The new solar system will not only help reduce CO2 emissions, but also secure the city's long-term energy supply. Stefanie Wagner, director of Veletržnica Beč, highlights the relevance of sustainable energy production and thereby emphasizes the market's responsibility in the current energy debate.
A step into the future
The city of Vienna and Wien Energie are increasingly relying on renewable energy sources. Working together, they have already built 15 photovoltaic systems, which together produce around 3,000 kWh annually - enough to supply many households with electricity. This commitment shows that the city not only has its finger on the pulse, but is also actively contributing to increasing the use of solar energy. In addition to Veletržnica Beč, there are similar projects in many places that are driving forward the energy transition through innovative technologies and sustainable approaches.
In addition to the energy concept, the digital innovation area has also found its way into the city. There are various technical solutions in the Vienna area that help increase efficiency and make everyday life easier. Whether training, software products or web applications – the use of digital tools is becoming increasingly important. Modern solutions are particularly in demand in the area of office applications, such as those offered on platforms such as office.com.
Together for a green future
All of these initiatives, from clean energy production to digital transformation, show that Vienna is on the right track. Veletržnica Beč employees help ensure that local business and electricity generation can go hand in hand to create a more environmentally friendly future. The decisions made today will undoubtedly influence the direction of Vienna's energy future.
