The Veletržnica Beč, also known as the Vienna wholesale market, has attracted attention with a new system for the use of renewable energy. A photonotovoltaic system with an output of 190 kW has recently been operated on the roof of the market. There are a total of 440 solar modules that were cleverly installed on eight roofs of the market. This environmentally friendly initiative was launched by Wien Energie in collaboration with WSE Wiener Lageentwicklung, which is part of Wien Holding. By feeding the generated solar energy into the Vienna power grid, a further step is taken towards sustainability and environmentally friendly energy supply. As ekovjesnik.hr reports, around 3000 kWh of clean energy is produced annually, which is enough for around 1500 average households in Vienna.
Veletržnica Beč has established itself as a central logistical hub for fruit, vegetables and flowers for over 50 years and thus plays an important role in supplying Vienna. The new solar system will not only help reduce CO2 emissions, but also secure the city's long-term energy supply. Stefanie Wagner, director of Veletržnica Beč, highlights the relevance of sustainable energy production and thereby emphasizes the market's responsibility in the current energy debate.
