Something is happening in Vienna: The city's climate team is starting a new phase today, and not without reason! We are looking for creative ideas for climate-friendly design of the Josefstadt and Penzing districts. The city invites all interested citizens to submit their suggestions for innovation. Vienna wants to actively counteract climate change and make life in the districts a little more livable. The Courier reports that ideas can be submitted until October 10th, whether by postcard or online.
But which topics are the focus? The areas of renewable energies, circular economy, climate-friendly mobility and climate-friendly urban spaces are the keywords on which the Viennese can give their input. Not only should ideas be collected, but concrete projects should also be implemented in a joint process with the population. The climate team not only promotes creativity, but also cooperation between politics, administration and the population.
A participatory project for everyone
What makes the climate team special? It is open to everyone who lives, works in Vienna or has a connection to the districts. Citizens can take part in idea workshops, submit their suggestions and develop them further in project workshops. The process is accompanied by a group of city experts who check the submitted ideas for feasibility. After the evaluation, a representative jury of citizens will decide on the implementation of the selected projects, which should then be implemented in spring 2026.
