Construction work in the west of Vienna: Line 43 is being rerouted!

Comprehensive track work is scheduled to begin in Vienna from mid-June, which will particularly affect tram lines 43 and 9. The work on Jörgerstrasse is necessary to bring the infrastructure into shape and will last until September. During this time, line 43, which otherwise runs between Neuwaldegg and Elterleinplatz, will be diverted from Elterleinplatz via the line 9 track to Gersthof. This impacts many daily commuters and passengers.

The diversion is being done to effectively route vehicles past the construction sites. Passengers who want to go to the city center can easily change to line 42 at the Kreuzgasse stop, which offers a practical alternative route. It is particularly worth mentioning that the stops on lines 42 and 43 on Vinzenzgasse are strategically placed so that the transfer options can be optimally used - including to the U6.

Details about the construction phase and timetable adjustments

Anyone using line 9 should also note that during construction work it will only run between Westbahnhof and Rosensteingasse. This short tour could lead to detours for some passengers, so it is advisable to be well informed in advance. Tram lines 2 and 44, on the other hand, will run on their usual route, but with increased intervals to accommodate the potential rush of passengers.

Wiener Linien has already provided comprehensive information about the ongoing construction sites on the website Wiener Linien. Passengers can find all the latest updates on timetable changes and diversions here.

Overall, this construction phase is a further step towards a modern and efficient transport infrastructure in Vienna. Everyone involved is encouraged to pay attention to the latest information and, if necessary, consider alternative routes in order to make their journeys as smooth as possible.

As the local press oe24 and ORF Wien report, such construction measures are a necessary investment in the future of the city underpin the continuous effort to improve public transport connections.
