Table tennis highlight makes Vienna shine – be there!
On November 29, 2025, the table tennis hall in Floridsdorf was transformed into a true mecca for table tennis enthusiasts. The Vienna Ping Pong Day 2025 offered a platform to celebrate the community sport of table tennis and create togetherness. The event was organized by non-profit organization Table Tennis Hobby Vienna, which was launched in 2020 to get people moving and promote encounters.
The anticipation in the air was palpable: over 40 registrations showed great interest, which is why registration had to be ended early for security reasons. Participants had the opportunity to take part in free training under the guidance of club trainer “Charlie”. “Harmony, fairness and playing together” were the focus, which beautifully reflected the atmosphere of the event. Thanks to well-coordinated rotation groups, there were no long waiting times - making playing twice as much fun!
A wide range for all generations
Table tennis is not only very popular in Floridsdorf, but also has a long tradition in Vienna that goes back to 1901. Back then, the first table tennis game was played in the Hietzinger Sports Club. Enthusiasm for the sport waned briefly after the First World War, but with the founding of the first Viennese Ping-Pong Games Association in 1923, table tennis flourished again in the city. 23 clubs are currently taking part in the Robert Hanak Table Tennis Championship (RHTT), with many clubs offering free participation. Those interested can find information about this at the RHTT website.
The discounts at the events organized by Table Tennis Hobby Vienna ensure that no financial obstacle stands in the way of enjoying the sport. There is also no obligation to be a member, which increases accessibility for all ages and social backgrounds.
