Young Violets celebrate promotion: 6-1 win makes hearts beat faster!

After an exciting final matchday in the Regionalliga East, the Young Violets return to the ADMIRAL 2nd League with an impressive 6-1 win over FCM Traiskirchen after their relegation in 2023. This comeback is a very special chapter in the club's history under head coach Maximilian Uhlig. How Laola1 reported, the fight for the coveted runner-up title was completely open and tense until the last minute.

The Young Violets had to hope for their own win on the last match day and at the same time hope for defeats from their competitors FC Marchfeld Donauauen and SC Neusiedl am See in order to secure second place in the table and thus promotion. There was great joy when they not only won themselves, but also saw how Marchfeld only managed a 0-0 draw against the Wiener Sport-Club and Neusiedl had to admit defeat 1-2 against champions Donaufeld.

A master with no ambitions for advancement

As already mentioned, the champions of the Regionalliga East, SR Donaufeld, secured the title with a 2-1 win over FavAC, but had not applied for a license for the 2nd league and was therefore foregoing promotion. This gives the Young Violets the opportunity to play a league higher next season. This is all the more remarkable since both Marchfeld and Neusiedl also do not have a license for the 2nd league. So the Young Violets are safely in second place and can finally look forward to returning to the 2nd league after a few turbulent years, while ASK Voitsberg has to go to the Middle Regional League.

The rise of the Young Violets also brings with it changes in the relegation situation. Due to their promotion, four relegation opportunities are eliminated. If the club had missed out on promotion, four teams from the Regionalliga East would have been relegated, but now there are three relegated teams. ASV Siegendorf and FC Mauerwerk have already been relegated, while Gloggnitz and FavAC are still hoping to stay in the league on the last matchday.

Promotion potential and prospects

What is happening in the Regionalliga East is not isolated, but is part of a larger discussion about reforming the promotion regulations in German football. An initiative by 17 of the 18 clubs in the Northeast Regional League is planning a comprehensive reform that aims to directly promote the champions and reduce the number of seasons. Although this reform is still up in the air, the Young Violets could very soon benefit from changes in the structure of the leagues that could strengthen amateur football as a whole. Like from Kicker carried out, the 2024/25 season is all about promotion prospects and games.

The Young Violets' return to the ADMIRAL 2nd league is a pleasing success that increases anticipation for the coming season. Fans and players are ready to take on the challenge and enjoy the experience in the second division to the fullest. The club spirit and the support of the fans will be particularly important in the new league in order to take the next step and possibly soon advance into higher realms of Austrian football.
