Viola miracle: First Vienna FC and Donaufeld draw 3:3!
On Tuesday, January 21, 2026, First Vienna FC 1894 met SR Donaufeld in a friendly. This duel, which took place without spectators due to the current conditions, ended in an exciting 3-3 draw at the Vienna Campus. Coach Hans Kleer fielded a young starting eleven in the first half, which included, among others, the talented Pistrol, Nnamdi, Nagele and Zeidler.
The game started with a cautious approach, with Donaufeld having the first opportunity. But the Vienna goalkeeper Unger was attentive. After that, however, the game developed in favor of the hosts. In the 19th minute, Zimmermann gave Vienna the lead after Odagaki played him perfectly. Just seven minutes later, Donaufeld equalized with a penalty from Floris van Zaanen.
An exciting game with a strong first half
But the Viennese remained persistent and scored two more goals within just five minutes. Zeidler scored in the 28th minute and Zimmermann was there again in the 43rd minute, making it 3-1 for First Vienna at halftime. The line-up in the first half read as follows: Unger, Nnamdi, Gantschnig, Pistrol, Zahirovic, Stratznig, Luxbacher, Nagele, Odagaki, Zimmermann and Zeidler.
In the second half, Kleer relied on fresh players. Players like Rosenberger, Okungbowa and Bauer were substituted. Vienna continued to control the action on the pitch and had several chances to extend their lead. But instead of scoring the fourth goal, the next goal came in the 60th minute to make it 2-3 for Donaufeld.
Promising approaches, but also weaknesses
The game picked up speed in the final phase. A defensive error by the blue-yellow defense allowed Donaufeld to equalize shortly after the goal. Vienna now pushed for the winning goal, but another attempt from Okungbowa only hit the crossbar. In the end it remained a fair 3:3.
In an analysis of the game, it became clear that despite a strong start to the first half and a promising individual performance from the young players, the defense revealed weaknesses in the second half. In the coming days, First Vienna fans can expect the next test match in which the team will play against SK Rapid. This duel will certainly provide an exciting comparison between the two traditional clubs.
