District derby at the start of the season: Donaufeld meets the FAC!

Donaufeld, Österreich - An intensive football weekend is imminent! On Friday, July 25, 2025, the teams of SR Donaufeld and Fac open the competitive season 2025/26 in the Uniqa-ÖFB Cup. The special thing about this derby? It is the first meeting of the two teams in 18 years when they last met in the 2006/07 city league season. At that time there was an exciting 1-1 draw. This time, however, the encounter is held in the Donaufeld stadium and begins at 5:30 p.m.

The signs are exciting, because the FAC, has been active in professional football for 12 years, goes into this encounter as a second division club. While the FAC experienced a change under interim coach Mario Sonnleitner, SR Donaufeld, as a master of the Regionalliga Ost, showed no ambitions to rise to the 2nd league. Nevertheless, the Danube fields come with a strong second half of the season, in which they only lost five games and won eleven out of a total of fifteen home games.

Tickets are available both from the FAC office at Hopfengasse 8, 1210 Vienna, as well as in the canteen of the SR Donaufeld. Ticket sales take place Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and it is important to note that only cash payment is possible.

The atmosphere promises to become a martial spectacle in the upcoming derby. Mario Sonnleitner, the interim coach of the FAC, is optimistic and emphasizes that the team has developed very well in the preparation. A single defeat in six test games speaks for the positive trend in the team. You will do everything you can to transport the winning mentality from last season into the new year.
