Bus line 20A in Floridsdorf: Complaints and pressure for solutions are growing!

Local public transport in Vienna, especially in Floridsdorf, has received an important boost thanks to the “public transport offensive” that was launched a year ago. With the aim of improving public transport, new bus routes were introduced, interval times were increased and operating times were extended. A central element of this initiative is the “More Bus for Floridsdorf” campaign. According to Wiener Linien, the offer has been well received - the new buses cover almost 400,000 additional kilometers in the 21st district every year, which is a significant relief for residents. But not everything is going smoothly.

In the Bruckdecken settlement, residents are increasingly expressing complaints about bus route 20A. Particular criticism is that the buses drive too quickly through the 30 zones and do not run on time according to the timetable. District leader Georg Papai (SPÖ) reports that the children do not get to school on time despite early departure times. This situation led him to sharply criticize the Wiener Linien, which, in his opinion, did not deliver the promised improvements.

Problematic line and lack of punctuality

Line 20A is operated on behalf of Wiener Linien by the Zuklin company, which was awarded the contract for this task as part of a Europe-wide tender. Despite clear guidelines for the services to be provided, residents do not feel adequately cared for. However, the Wiener Linien takes the complaints seriously and is in contact with the district administration, the Bruckdecken settlers' association and the Zuklin company. Discussions are currently underway to find a timely solution to the problems raised.

Wiener Linien is optimistic that progress will soon be made. District boss Papai is also hoping for a quick clarification of the situation in order to restore confidence in line 20A. Commitment to improving both punctuality and passenger safety is critical, and city residents hope the complaints don't remain on hold.

Contact and further steps

Wiener Linien offers a comprehensive communication structure for suggestions or complaints. The central telephone number is +43 1 7909 100, available Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternatively, citizens can also send an email to kundendialog@wienerlinien.at. If no solution can be found, there is the option to contact the Passenger and Passenger Rights Agency for assistance. This shows that passengers' concerns are taken seriously and a solution is always being worked on.

While the issue surrounding line 20A is still ongoing, the question remains as to how public transport in Vienna can continue to be optimized. After all, modern and reliable local transport is one of the fundamental pillars of a functioning city. The Wiener Linien are required to ensure that promises are kept so that the “More Bus for Floridsdorf” initiative can continue to be seen as a success.
