Young talents inspire at the Vienna Apprentice Hackathon 2025!

The fifth Vienna Apprentice Hackathon, organized by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW) and apprentigo, was an exciting event on October 12, 2025, in which 67 motivated apprentices from 17 companies competed in 25 teams. The aim of the hackathon was to program a working app within a single day and to present it in a short video. The focus of this creative challenge was on promoting digital skills, which Walter Ruck, President of WKW, emphasized at the opening: “Digital skills are of great importance in all professional fields.” reports MyDistrict.

The apprentice hackathon has become a fixture over the last five years and aims to awaken the digital appetite of young talents states the WKO. This is not just about programming, but also about teamwork and creativity in dealing with modern technologies. The participants had to prove themselves within one day and impressively demonstrated what innovative ideas they could develop.

The best app ideas

The competition participants were judged in three categories: Rookies, Professionals and Experts. In the rookie category, the team consisting of Julia Schwarz and Pascal Ambros received first place for their app “Helpkit,” which helps manage first aid equipment. This project also impressed with its functionality and also became a “community star” because it collected the most likes from viewers.

In the professional category, Patrick Ederer, Theodor Pichler and Frederic Gamper came out on top with the “KontaktKompass” app, which supports insurance customers with their concerns and connects them directly with the right contacts. In the expert category, the team around Daniel Izmailov, Arionit Tahiraj and Julian Lechner impressed with their app “Planet & me”, which aims to promote a more sustainable life by tracking CO₂ savings and offering sustainable challenges explains the WKO.

On to the next challenge!

The winners and their teammates can be proud of their achievements because they have qualified to compete in the Federal Apprentice Hackathon from October 20th to 23rd. They will also present further steps in the further development of their apps at the WKÖ Coding Day on November 18th informs lehrlingshackathon.at.

In summary, the apprentice hackathon is not only an exciting platform for young talent, but also an important source of inspiration for increasing digital skills in teaching. These skills not only increase the attractiveness of the apprenticeship professions, but also ensure that today's apprentices become tomorrow's skilled workers under the sign of comprehensive digitalization.
