Three new gastronomy highlights opened in Aspern Seestadt!

The aspern Seestadt in Vienna is increasingly becoming a culinary hotspot. Three new gastronomic concepts expand the diverse offering and ensure enthusiasm among residents and visitors. With Kenny’s, Vegan Kiss and Ciao Ragazzi, a breath of fresh air is coming to Seestadt.

Kenny’s is a franchise that opened in October and offers Hawaiian poké bowls, waffles, exotic smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. The address is at Gertrud-Bodenwieser-Gasse 4, and opening times are Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., on weekends and public holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The high demand for the colorful bowls and sparkling drinks underlines Martin Hesiks, the managing director of Shopping Streets GmbH, in his positive assessment of the new restaurants.

Vegan Kiss, a cozy bistro and café, rounds off the offering with exclusively vegan dishes. Here you can grab plant-based sandwiches, bagels, tarte flambées and daily changing lunch menus - a great thing for all plant-based eaters! The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday and is located on Eva-Maria-Mazzucco-Platz.

But that's not all. Ciao Ragazzi is another highlight that offers authentic Neapolitan pizza. This is available for pickup and will be delivered soon, so every foodie can quickly bring a dose of Italian flair home.

Diversity in the lakeside city

The new restaurants are another building block in an already impressive gastronomic landscape that includes Italian, Austrian, Asian and Oriental cuisine. Various cafés and even a cocktail bar right on the lake ensure a convivial atmosphere in the summer months. Gernot Jung, manager of the shopping street company, emphasizes how important a professionally organized environment is for catering operators and that over 6,000 employees in the district benefit from this development.

A look at the plans for the future: From 2026, a gastronomy mile on the lake will be in the starting blocks, which will feature modern restaurants and arcades. The managed shopping street currently covers around 8,000 m² of retail space, and there is much more on the horizon - a further 22,000 m² will be available by the time Seestadt is fully completed.

The all-round gastronomic renewal of aspern Seestadt follows a trend that more and more cities are recognizing: linking food with sustainable urban development. According to the Mercer study, Vienna is one of the most livable cities and offers potential for urban food production. The FOOD ATLAS Vienna research project is dedicated to precisely these topics and examines how nutrition can be integrated into urban space. The aim is to promote the perception of food and to analyze the social and spatial effects of food in the city.

The new gastronomic diversity in the aspern Seestadt not only shows the further development of the district, but also how an entire district can be inspired with creative concepts. For anyone looking for new taste experiences, there are plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the culinary world on the water.
