Bloody clash in Vienna: man injured with knife!

On Wednesday evening there was a violent incident at Wallensteinplatz in Vienna-Brigittenau that alerted the police. At around 9.40 p.m., the Brigittenau city police command and the Vienna professional rescue service were called. On site, emergency services found a 44-year-old man with multiple cuts. It quickly emerged that the injured man had been involved in an argument with another man.

The unknown attacker is said to have injured the 44-year-old with a knife. According to the victim's statement, it was a casual acquaintance. Immediate medical attention was necessary and the victim was taken to the hospital. Thanks to a quick identification of the alleged perpetrator, the Vienna public prosecutor's office was able to issue an arrest order.

Quick arrest of the suspect

The suspect, a 22-year-old man from Syria, was temporarily arrested a short time later at his home address in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. He is currently being held by the police. The judicial authorities are continuing to investigate to clarify the exact background to the dispute. These types of incidents keep police busy and show how quickly disputes can turn violent. Today reports that this incident is not isolated.

In another violent incident in downtown Brigittenau there was also a knife attack. Here, a 28-year-old man was injured by his 32-year-old partner after he had threatened to beat her. During this argument the knife fell and the man suffered cuts to his fingers and hand. He was also taken to hospital, while the woman, who showed a blood alcohol level of 2.4 per mille, initially refused medical attention and was later provisionally arrested.

Investigations are ongoing

In both cases, police investigations are in full swing. In the case of the 28-year-old, not only was the incident documented, but legal action was also taken, including a ban on entering and approaching the injured person.

The current situation in Brigittenau once again represents the challenge that the police have to overcome every day. More and more violent clashes are shaping the cityscape, which is a worrying signal for residents. We hope that the investigations in both cases will quickly reach their goal and those responsible will be held accountable. Further information on this topic can be found at MyDistrict and Today.
