The anticipation of a special evening increases! Johanna and Tanja, known as the “roaming_pedals”, invite all adventure seekers to hear about their thrilling experiences from their epic bike journey from Cape Town to Vienna. In a lecture that won an award at Discovery Days 2024, they share their experiences from over a year on the road. The event will take place soon and promises a diverse narrative full of fascinating stories - from elephant encounters to sandstorms.
The two adventurers know what they are talking about, because their journey not only took them through the African bush, but also across the Arabian Peninsula and to the mountain nomads of Iran. Her stories are not only funny, but also educational and entertaining. Johanna, 36 years old and a teacher of sports and Spanish, has long been committed to cycling, while her sister Tanja, also 36, works as a bicycle mechanic and outdoor educator. Tanja's trip also had a personal touch: a surgical nail that she had removed from her thigh before departure reminded her of how valuable cycling was for her rehabilitation.
