Trigonale Festival: From Purcell to Handel – a diverse experience!
The Trigonale Festival in Carinthia starts on September 5th and promises some musical highlights in advance. The festival begins with a concert featuring works by Purcell, while the festival concludes with Handel's “Coronation Anthems” on September 14th. The event takes place in an exciting atmosphere between old workshops and Stefan Schweiger's new chamber music hall in Portendorf. He has lovingly converted his old workshop and is ensuring optimal conditions for the artists by setting up three sleeping and rehearsal cabins in Maria Saal. The anticipation for the numerous concerts is great, especially for the appearance of Anita Giovanna Rosati, who will present her skills in two concerts and will also make her debut at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence. The choir of the “Sidney Sussex College” from Cambridge will come to Tanzenberg for a CD recording, which underlines the international dimension of this festival, as the Kleine Zeitung reports.
But what else awaits visitors?
A look at the highlights of the festival week
The Trigonale not only stands for classical music, but also brings together diverse artists, such as the talented pianist Agnes Wolf, who is known for her impressive performances in renowned halls such as the Vienna Musikverein and the Konzerthaus Vienna. Her career began at the age of 16 when she made her debut with Mozart's Piano Concerto KV 449. In addition to her artistic work, she is also a senior lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and has a good reputation as a chamber musician, having worked with many well-known orchestras. In 2024 she performed at the Trigonale on the historic fortepiano.
What else is there to discover? A great selection of performances are on the program on September 3rd to celebrate the new season, including Mozart's The Magic Flute with a star-studded cast including Christof Flammesser as Sarastro and Serena Sáenz as Queen of the Night.
