A new meeting place will soon be opening in St. Veit: it will be open from November 11th Red Cross regularly for coffee meetings. Under the motto “Together instead of lonely”, this new meeting place is intended to appeal particularly to people who want to have enjoyable conversations in company over a cup of coffee, tea and delicious cake. The series of events takes place in the Meeting Room and will in future be held every second Tuesday of the month.
St. Veit Mayor Manfred Feichtinger and the community support the project, which aims to create an integral part of community life in St. Veit. “We want to send a signal that it is important to stay in touch and strengthen society,” emphasizes Feichtinger.
A meeting place for everyone
The encounter coffee is aimed at everyone who loves social gatherings. The aim is to create a framework in which everyone is warmly welcome to spend time together and make new acquaintances. This initiative is not only a win for St. Veit, but also shows how important social contacts are, especially at a time when loneliness is a widespread problem.
Meeting places everywhere in Germany, as well as here, offer a valuable opportunity for people who are retired or suffer from dementia. DRK e.V. draws parallels to similar offerings that offer seniors a variety of leisure options. Whether it's a breakfast meeting, a games afternoon or even crochet courses and exercise programs - there is something suitable for every age group.
A look into the future
The aim is to offer the coffee meeting not just as a one-off event, but to establish it as a sustainable part of social life in St. Veit. With the support of the community and the great commitment of the Red Cross, this project is sure to be a success.
