Austria's export prices 2025: Southern Austria impresses with top performance!

Today, June 3, 2025, the Austrian export economy is under the sign of resilience. Despite difficult economic conditions, around 64,000 domestic export companies are showing considerable resilience. At the recently held Export Awards Gala in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna, which attracted around 500 guests, the best companies were recognized for their exceptional achievements in international business. This gala marked the 31st awarding of the export awards, and the companies from Styria and Carinthia proved to be particularly successful. As the Small newspaper reported, the prizes were presented by Economics Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer and the President of the Austrian Economic Chamber, Harald Mahrer.

In his speech, Hattmannsdorfer made it clear how important it is to broaden economic relationships in order to survive in these challenging times. Mahrer highlighted the important role of export companies as the “heart of the domestic economy” and spoke about the need to ensure support for exporting companies. In this context, an opportunity package of 15 million euros was announced, which will particularly benefit international companies.

Success stories and awards

The export prizes were awarded in six main and two special categories. The awards went to companies that shine in the international market with their innovative strength and flexibility. Here is an overview of the award winners:

Support for the export economy

The government would like to counter the challenges with the new opportunity package, which is aimed specifically at internationally active companies. This package includes programs such as webinars, trading partner matching and specialized advice on tariffs and strategies. Two thirds of the 15 million euros will go towards developing new markets, while a third of the funds will be used to promote competitiveness. In this way, the export industry should continue to be on a secure footing in the future.

However, the pressure from international competition and weak demand in the top export markets remains. A look back at 2024 shows that exports fell by around 10 billion euros, underlining the need for a strong and innovative export strategy. The focus on North American and Asian markets could promise new potential of up to 20 billion euros.

The My district reports that the planned initiatives, including the “Go International” program, have already been used by tens of thousands of companies and offer important support when entering the market in new regions.
