Hope for pets: Paw Market brings food to needy Viennese
There is an impressive association in Vienna that not only supports animals, but also people in need. The non-profit association “Pfotenmarkt auf wheels” ensures that pet owners who are in difficult financial situations can continue to care for their animal family members. Since its founding in 2017, the association has settled in Floridsdorf and is now also active in other districts.
Strong together in times of need
How meinkreis.at reports, the Pfotenmarkt's mobile animal food bank will travel every two weeks to provide care for animals in need. The clients' needs are asked in advance and the food is put together individually. The clients receive enough food per household to last about two months. The offer is aimed primarily at older, single and frail people who are in dire straits due to limited mobility or financial bottlenecks.
The connection between humans and animals
The association's volunteers not only bring food, but also hope to the animal owners. Around 18 dedicated helpers have come together to donate their time and energy to this good cause. The delivery takes place directly in the helper's private car and the clients are contacted by telephone before the delivery. When using the services, a small fee will be charged, depending on the weight of the animal. In this way, the association wants to ensure that no one has to give up their beloved animals.
Donate to a good cause
To ensure ongoing support, the association relies on private donations and donation boxes in animal markets. The demand for help has risen sharply in recent years, particularly among minimum pensioners. The Paw Market has therefore also placed great emphasis on fundraising events. A special highlight is the Christmas market, which will take place on November 22nd and 23rd at the Simmeringer Hundsgut. Every donation is requested here in order to be able to continue the important work of the association.
Committed collaboration
As on the club's website, pfotenmarkt.org, can be read, deliveries are made every 4 to 6 weeks on Saturday mornings. Clients can contact chairwoman Sonja Moldaschl from Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to register, ask questions and express requests. This ensures that everything runs smoothly and that help gets to where it is needed most.
The elixir of life for animals and humans
Overall, the paw market makes a significant contribution to the respectful and dignified treatment of animals and their people. The association's offers of help not only enrich the animals' lives, but also ensure that people are not left alone in difficult situations. In this way, the club shows how important it is to stick together in our society and support each other.
