A very special event is currently being announced in the colorful world of theater: The HEUSCHRECK Theater in Vienna is celebrating its 2025/2026 anniversary season with the premiere of the children's musical “JOLA and JULIUS – A Cat Crime”. On October 18th and 19th, 2025, the story of JULIUS and his runaway cat will be brought to life in the LORELY Hall (Penzinger Straße 72, 1140 Vienna). Trendkraft reports that the piece not only aims to captivate young viewers aged 3 to 10, but also addresses important topics such as courage, personal responsibility and self-confidence.
The plot follows the protagonist JULIUS, who goes on an adventurous journey to the “Kingdom of Cats” to find his cat. He meets the dreaded Bad Cats who make his life difficult. Luckily, he receives support from the stray cat JOLA, who helps him with her magical items. The actors are a colorful ensemble that brings the characters to life - including Paria Bahrami as JOLA and Mischa Tuchacek as JULIUS.
Tickets and other performances
The premiere in October is just the start. Wiener Neudorf has already set another date for the piece: On March 18, 2026, it will be performed from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Franz Fürst Leisure Center in Wiener Neudorf. The ticket prices are family-friendly and cost 14 euros for adults and 10 euros for children. Ticket sales start at the beginning of October, both online and at the local citizen service.
The idea to create the piece came from Anna Hnilicka, who also wrote the book and the lyrics, while Anatoliy Olshanskiy is responsible for the composition and arrangement. The piece is visually appealing thanks to the set design by Anika Rebhan and the costumes by Corinna Melanie Gruber.
