The most expensive apartment sold in the federal capital cost an impressive 4.4 million euros and impressed not only with its price, but also with its generous area of 413.88 square meters. The apartment is located in the sought-after Mondscheingasse and offers the new owners a 16.35 square meter loggia and a 6.27 square meter balcony, which provide perfect retreats to relax and enjoy the view. The sale was completed by “LNR Zollergasse 31 Projektentwicklung GmbH”, while the new owner, the asset management company “Bazantner GmbH”, according to Vienna.at can now enjoy this luxurious property.
But what is the state of the real estate market in Austria as a whole? The numbers speak for themselves: Vienna was the city of real estate records in 2024. When it comes to the most expensive real estate sales, Viennese properties topped the list. For example, an office building in the 3rd district fetched an incredible 158.5 million euros, while an apartment building in the 1st district changed hands for 127 million euros. Even in Kitzbühel, records were set at 34.68 million euros for a single-family home, and the highest apartment price in Kitzbühel is 7.12 million euros, as Die Presse reports. This clearly shows that real estate prices are rising to a new dimension, especially in urban regions and popular holiday resorts.

And what does that mean for sales figures? In 2024, several promising real estate sales took place in Austria. Most residential real estate transactions occurred in the following districts:

Vienna remains not only a culturally rich city, but also an extremely interesting city economically. The demand for real estate has increased, particularly in recent years. This development is also reflected in the prices, which have risen to 4.15 million euros for an apartment in other parts of the country, such as in Salzburg City.
The price spiral will therefore continue to move and experts are looking forward to the further development of the market. One thing is clear: the real estate market in Vienna and the surrounding area has had a remarkable year, and property buyers who have a good feel for the most lucrative locations can definitely get a good deal.
