On October 7, 2025, a very special event took place in the Boecklsaal at the TU Vienna: the Mentimeter pub quiz. This quiz was organized to celebrate the introduction of free use of the Pro version of Mentimeter for all TU students from the winter semester of 2025. A total of 25 aspiring academics competed against each other in eight teams and demonstrated their knowledge in various categories - from TU knowledge and general knowledge to film and music.
With great enthusiasm, the participants took on challenges over four rounds that required both knowledge and speed. In the end, “Team Berger45” was able to celebrate first place, closely followed by “Los Pollos Hermanos”, who took second place. This first-ever event was not only a pleasure, but also a perfect opportunity to try out the numerous possibilities that Mentimeter offers.
Mentimeter Pro: A new access for students
From now on, all students at TU Wien have the opportunity to use the Pro version of Mentimeter free of charge. The innovative tool makes it possible to create interactive presentations, but the Pro version was previously only available to teachers. Registration is easy via TUshop, and the license is available with an SSO login. That sounds like a good deal!
Mentimeter is not only user-friendly, but also offers numerous features that enrich learning and teaching at the university. The platform allows for live polls, quiz creation, and even word cloud design. These tools support the organization of group work and make it easier to create presentations smoothly. The use of this software can be optimally used both in the classroom and for distance learning, which makes it so flexible.
