New parish provisionalist Father Arockiasamy: Faith lives in Gumpendorf!

A fresh wind is blowing through the Gumpendorf parish: Father Prabumetha Arockiasamy was officially introduced as the new parish provisional. The festive introductory service was led by dean Father Andrzej Kunkel and was a special event for the community. The native Tamil from India not only brings with him extensive theological knowledge, but also a great deal of commitment to the people of his new community.

Father Arockiasamy was born in Tamil Nadu in 1979 and grew up in a Catholic family. After completing a degree in mathematics, he joined the Congregation of the Eucharist. He completed his theological studies in Mumbai and Pune before being ordained a priest in 2013. In India he was not only active in youth work, but also in family pastoral care and acted as an editor of spiritual publications. In January 2018 he finally landed in Austria and was accepted into the Eucharist Monastery in Vienna, where he deepened his knowledge of German and prepared for his upcoming tasks.

Commitment to the community

The new provisional parish priest has set himself the goal of promoting a lively and open community. His focus is on Eucharistic spirituality, living charity and responsibility for creation. “I want the parish to be a place where people find home, comfort and hope,” explains Father Arockiasamy. He also honored the work of his predecessor, Father Nelson, who has led the parish since 2018.

Gerhard Hammerer, the ÖVP club chairman, did not miss the opportunity to congratulate the new pastor provisional and wish him God's blessing for his new task. Father Arockiasamy is not only active as parish provisional, but will also continue to work as chaplain in the parish of St. Ägyd. The challenges are diverse, but with his open nature and desire for community cohesion, he is well prepared.

Health coverage for seniors

In another area, a new offer for seniors is also exciting: Anyone who has foreign guests from the EU visiting can take out insurance that meets certain requirements. This insurance offers protection for up to 365 days and meets the minimum legal requirements for a Schengen visa. For seniors over 65 years of age, an unlimited sum insured as well as options with or without deductible can be selected. These policies are important to guarantee that everything is well covered even in the event of health problems during your stay.

Ideally, the insurance should be taken out before entry in order to enjoy full protection during your stay. There are various payment options, so there is a suitable solution for everyone. This could make visiting minutes more worry-free and pleasant for older people.

At the end of the day it is clear that new paths are being taken both in the church and in the health sector to promote cooperation in the community and beyond.
